PG Diploma (TA Counselling)
My name is Eileen Docherty. I offer individual & couples counselling & psychotherapy in both Edinburgh & Glasgow. I also offer family therapy.
I have six years training in psychotherapy & have a wide range of experience in working with a variety of issues including: gay affirmation therapy, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, family issues, addictions, grief, personality problems, identity issues & psychological sports issues.
I have particular expertise & specialist training in working with gay affirmation therapy.
Before retraining as a counsellor & psychotherapist I worked for over twenty years in the leisure industry, under various hats including: life guard, gym instructor, NPLQ trainer assessor, SVQ assessor & various supervisory & management roles. This in part led me to engage in my own therapy & having experienced its benefits, led me to retrain as a counsellor/psychotherapist.
I hold a Diploma in Transactional Analysis Counselling (2011) & a Post Graduate Diploma in Transactional Analysis Counselling (2015).
I am currently working towards becoming a Certified Transactional Analyst (CTA) & my MSc in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy.
I am a member of the following organisations, and joint treasurer of the STAA:
- UK Association for Transactional Analysis (UKATA)
- Scottish Tranactional Analysis Association (STAA)
- European Association of Transactional Analysis (EATA)
I receive regular supervision, am committed to my continuous personal & professional development & am in regular therapy. Furthermore, I have personal indemnity insurance.
